A través de un directo por Twitter, Billboard anunció este jueves 29 de abril a los artistas nominados para las diferentes categorías de los Billboard Music Awards 2021. La edición 28 de este evento se celebrará el próximo 23 de mayo, pero aún no está confirmado si se realizará de manera presencial, virtual o tendrá una organización híbrida.

Los finalistas de los Billboard Music Awards 2021 fueron seleccionados según su rendimiento comercial en Estados Unidos. Asimismo, esta información fue registrada por el sistema Nielsen SoundScan.

Además, los ganadores de este galardón se determinarán por sus interacciones con los fanáticos de la música, incluida la venta de álbumes, canciones digitales, transmisión por radio, participación social, entre otros aspectos musicales.

La organización de los Billboard Music Awards 2021 anunció que el evento iniciaría a las 8.00 p.m. y se llevaría a cabo en el Microsoft Theatre de Los Ángeles. Sin embargo, esta última información se terminará de confirmar en los próximos días.
